Instructions
Vowels are always above their preceding consonants. For example, kasi in tengwar is
. As you can see, a (
) is above k (
). Similarly, i is above s.
However, some words begin with vowels. If a vowel does not have a preceding consonant, a separate line (resembling an undotted i) is used. For example, akesi in tengwar is
.
The letter n is written differently depending on how it is used in a word. If the n is at the end of a syllable (e.g., tenpo, sitelen, and anpa) rather than at the beginning (e.g., nimi, noka, and pona), use a special n marker above the previous consonant. For example, here are the words tenpo, sitelen, and anpa:

For sentences, :must be
placed at the beginning and end of the sentence. For questions
or exclamations, add their symbols next to the final :
of the sentence. For example, of the three sentences below, the first is a typical sentence, the second is a
question, and the third an exclamation:
Automatic text-to-tengwar conversion

Some notes about the converted text:
The convertor does not distinguish between open and closed
quotation marks. If you want to use quotations in your text, you must
manually change the opening quotation mark to '.
The convertor automatically assumes you are writing a
sentence. If you want to write just a name or a word, remove the
periods that appear at the beginning and end of the phrase.
